Yes, you can choose from 5 km, 10 km or Half Marathon distances. There is also a Discovery Fun Run for Kids and Discovery Youth 5km.
This is a race start exclusively for 8 – 15 year olds on the 5km course.
This is a shorter 1.5km distance for the younger runners (ages 4 – 12). Whether it’s their first try at a race or they have competed many times before, it is a great way to get the whole family involved. Children under 8 shall require parental supervision on the course.
The event is suitable for all ages, experiences and fitness abilities. With the variety of distances available you should be able to find a level that suits you.

Absolutely. The start times will be based on the race category you enter and your estimated finish time, so just ensure you select the same information and you shall be on the start line together.
Individuals can register as a Group to take advantage of a 10% discount on all individual entry fees. All members of the group can select their own Discovery Run distance, and group members can all pay for themselves too. To take advantage of this offer, you can simply ‘Create a Group’ when you enter, register yourself, and then share your group page with friends. It’s a fun way to interact and see who of your friends have entered! You need at least 5 friends to secure the discount.
In addition to the spectacular scenic courses at Petworth Park and the professional event organisation, your entry fee will include your race pack, chip timing, training support and advice, fully signed & marshalled route, drinks stations, finishers goodie bag & medal, free parking, medical back-up and access to the Sports Festival.
The age limits are based on your age on event day.

The Discovery Run welcomes canicrossers. All canicrossers must be proficient at running with a suitable dog and follow the correct standards of canicross – ensuring you and your dog are wearing a suitable harness, with lines extending no longer than 2m. See more details here – www.canicross.org.uk
When you complete your entry online you will receive a confirmation email from us confirming your place in the race. If you have not received this email, firstly please check your junk folder and add firstname.lastname@example.org to your address book. Secondly, please contact us by email email@example.com or phone 01276 427990 and we will be able to confirm the status of your entry.
You will not be sent anything in the post. At least 2 weeks before the event, the race day information will be emailed to you, together with your race number. You will then collect your race number and timing chip on arrival at the event.
The Discovery Run start times can be found here. Your individual start time will also be emailed to you at least 2 weeks before the event. Additionally, the full list of individual start times will be available on the website 2 weeks pre-event.
Yes, you can change the Discovery Run distance if you notify us at least 14 days (2 weeks) prior to event day, subject to availability in the respective category. If you would like to change to a longer Discovery Run distance, you will need to pay the difference in entry fee at the time of transfer, plus a fee of 5.5% of this additional cost. If you would like to reduce your Discovery Run distance / move to a lower priced category, there will be no cost and no refund available. If you have registered a place in the event but are no longer able to take part, please refer to the withdrawals policy in the event Terms & Conditions. These terms are summarised below:
If you are withdrawing within 7 days of completing your online race application, the “7 day cooling off period”, you are entitled to receive a full refund less a £2.50 administration fee, regardless of your entry date.
If you are withdrawing from the event 60 days or more before the Event, so before the 1st April, you can transfer your place to the same race category in the 2016 event.
If you are withdrawing between 30 to 59 days before the Event, so from the 2nd April to 1st May, you will be entitled to a 50% credit on the entry fee you paid. This credit is to be used on the 2016 event.
If you are withdrawing after the 2nd May, you will not be entitled to any transfers or credit.
There are many costs involved in staging this event, which are incurred from the moment the event planning commences, and the withdrawal policy reflects this. Due to the nature of sports events we are unable to make exceptions for injuries. Under no circumstances can places be transferred to another individual, and no monetary refunds shall be offered in any circumstances except as part of the ‘7 day cooling off period’.
Written notification is required for withdrawal from the event, and please contact the team on email@example.com with the subject heading ‘withdrawals’.

There is a choice of Discovery Run distances, which are 5 km, 10 km and Half Marathon (21km). There will also be a Discovery Youth 5km and Discovery Fun Run for Kids, which shall be 1.5km.
The Discovery Run routes are all off-road along a network of trails and grass paths. It is an undulating route with some slightly steeper sections. Full route details can be seen here, including details on the route elevations.
The Discovery 5km and 10km routes are fully contained within Petworth Park. There is a road to cross twice in the Discovery Half course, which will be managed by marshals.
There will be water stations positioned at intervals along all the Discovery Run routes.
There will be toilets located in the Sports Festival, by the start and in the car park.
Official race photographers will be at points along the Discovery Run routes to capture you in action. After the event, you will receive an email with a link to view these images and the options to purchase them.
For safety reasons you are advised not to listen to music so that you can hear the instructions from our stewards.
Yes, there will be a professional medical team and first aid responders on the course, and a first aid point in the Sports Festival. If you feel unwell at any point during the day or the race, make this known to any of our marshals and they will be able to help you find the assistance you need.
We recommended that you arrive ready to race, as there will not be any baggage storage facilities. The car parking will be only a short walk from the race start and finish.
There will not be any shower or changing facilities available.
The Sports Festival is an exciting and interactive area offering a number of activities and entertainment for you to discover, located next to the Discovery Run start and finish. More information can be found here.
Entry to the Park is free for all spectators, and there are no car parking charges.
Yes, the Discovery Run is a day out for the whole family, not only can you spectate the race from some stunning points around the Park, but there will be a Sports Festival with activities for competitors and spectators.
